AUC Memories was a project devised by Dr. Mahmoud Farag, long-time AUC Engineering faculty member and former Vice Provost, as AUC moved from its downtown campus to new facilities in New Cairo in 2008. His welcome note and acknowledgments reads: "As we leave the downtown campus to the New Cairo campus, we leave behind a lot of memories. Memories not only related to the buildings, offices, or recreation spaces, but also related to the bustling center of Cairo, the busy side streets, and the many people who make a living by selling merchandise or providing service to the AUC community. This scrapbook attempts to capture some of these memories. Some of the images and historical notes come from the AUC archives, but many come from various offices and people at AUC. The written texts are contributed by members of the AUC past and present. Many of contributors are faculty or staff members who spent most of their professional career serving AUC, and some of those even started as our students and came back to join as faculty or professional staff. Other contributors are alumni, old and new, who to them AUC will always be the downtown campus. This is a continuing project and those interested are welcome to contribute. I am grateful to those who took the time to participate in this project or help in constructing this site."
